OUR MISSION
Spinners Pinball Arcade exists to support the work of Pinball EDU, a nonprofit organization working to combat social isolation through play.
Play is one of the most natural ways people connect. Games give people a shared activity that sparks conversation, laughter, and friendship. When people play together, barriers fall away and new relationships begin.
Spinners was built as a place where that kind of connection can happen every day.
WHY PLAY MATTERS
Many social spaces expect people to start conversations first.
Games change that.
When people play together, interaction happens naturally. A shared challenge, a high score, or even a missed shot can start a conversation between strangers.
Arcade games are especially powerful because they create:
natural conversation starters
shared victories and challenges
multi-generational play
welcoming entry points for people who may struggle in traditional social settings
This is why play is at the center of everything we do.
What Pinball EDU Does
Pinball EDU develops programs that use games and shared play experiences to help people build connection, confidence, and community.
These programs focus on:
reducing social isolation
creating inclusive spaces for people with disabilities
providing safe recreational spaces for youth
building friendships through shared activities
As our new facility grows, Pinball EDU will continue expanding programs and partnerships throughout the Frederick community.
Spinners Pinball Arcade is a Certified Autism Center by the IBCCES.
A COMMUNITY SPACE FOR EVERYONE
Spinners is open to the public so the entire community can experience the power of play.
Families, friends, coworkers, and community groups all gather here to spend time together, meet new people, and enjoy a welcoming environment.
Our adaptive, inclusive environment allowed us in 2023 to serve over 30,000 visitors, including 2,500 families and more than 1,750 individuals with ASD and other challenges. Community organizations and nonprofits regularly visit the arcade for group outings, meetings, and social events.
Every visit helps support Pinball EDU and the programs that bring people together.
